Where the day tours end, these begin

Overnight Into the Wild

Overnight tours in Lapland take you deeper than any single-day trip can. When the last day-visitors head back to town, you keep going — into the silent heart of the fells, to a wilderness cabin where the wood stove is crackling and the aurora drifts above the snow. Some of these journeys cross a national park on Nordic skis over several days; others ride deep into the backcountry by snowmobile for a single unforgettable night. What they share is the best part of Lapland: the wild after dark.

Every overnight tour is fully guided and run in small groups, with the logistics — accommodation, meals, transfers, and gear — taken care of. Different adventures, one common thread: a night far from anywhere.

Two ways to spend the night in the wild

On skis — For those who want to earn their distance. Multi-day hut-to-hut Nordic ski traverses, real physical effort, and deep immersion in the fells.

By snowmobile — Ride into the wilderness, sleep in a remote off-grid cabin, and return the next day. Accessible to most, no experience needed — the same reward with less effort.

What's included

Every overnight tour comes fully supported, so you can focus on the adventure and not the logistics. Your booking includes a professional wilderness guide throughout, a night in genuine Arctic accommodation — from wood-heated wilderness huts to off-grid cabins — all meals during the trip, and the safety and cold-weather gear you need to stay warm out there. Transfers to and from the wilderness are handled too. Exact inclusions vary by tour, so check each trip page for the full list.

FAQ

What counts as an “overnight tour”? Any of our multi-day trips where you sleep out in the wilderness rather than returning to town each night — whether in a wood-heated hut on a ski trek or an off-grid cabin on a snowmobile safari.

Do I need previous experience? It depends on the tour. Ski treks require an intermediate Nordic skiing level and good fitness. Snowmobile overnights need no experience — full instruction is given before departure, and a valid driving licence is required to drive (passengers can ride without one).

How cold does it get at night, and will I be warm? Temperatures often fall well below freezing. Accommodation is wood-heated, sleeping bags or bedding are provided, and we guide you on layering — you’ll sleep warm.

Will I see the northern lights? Overnight tours give you the best possible odds: far from light pollution and outdoors long after dark. Sightings depend on weather and solar activity and can never be guaranteed — but a wilderness cabin is one of the finest places on earth to wait for them.

What if the weather turns bad? Your guide may adjust the route or timing for safety. Wilderness travel is always weather-dependent, and that flexibility is part of the adventure.
