Pallas-Ylläs National Park is one of Finland’s most beautiful protected landscapes — ancient trees, wide open fells, and a silence that reaches all the way to the horizon. This snowshoe hike takes you to the heart of it.
We set off from Ylläs ski resort and climb gradually through the winter forest toward Tuomikuru, a scenic traditional Lappish hut perched on the hillside with panoramic views stretching hundreds of kilometres across the frozen wilderness. At the hut, take a seat by the open fire, grill sausages in the traditional Finnish way, and enjoy warm berry juice while your guide shares knowledge of the surrounding nature, its wildlife and its history.
