Home|Experience|Life in Ylläs – Spend Time with the Locals!
About this experience
What is it really like to live in one of Europe’s most remote Arctic villages? This intimate, small-group experience invites you inside the life of Ylläsjärvi — the village, its history and the family that has called it home for generations.
We begin with a short walking tour of the oldest houses and yards in the village, where Johanna shares the stories behind the buildings, the people and the community that shaped this place over centuries. Then we step into Johanna’s own home — a traditional Finnish wooden house — for the most personal part of the visit. You’ll make your own handcrafted Lappish souvenir from natural antler materials, rooted in local culture and the ancient traditions of shamanism. To finish, a locally smoked salmon soup and dessert prepared from Lapland recipes.
A rare and genuine connection to Arctic Finnish life. Minimum 4, maximum 8 participants.
