There is a different kind of quiet you find when you ski away from the groomed tracks and into the real Lappish wilderness. This guided backcountry skiing adventure in the Ylläs area takes you into that quiet — through pristine snow-covered forests, over glistening open fields and along hidden trails that reveal the raw beauty of Arctic Finland.
Forest skis — wider than cross-country skis and fitted with grippy skins on the base — give you effortless control on gentle ascents and open descents, and your guide will have you feeling comfortable with the technique well before the landscape demands anything of you. Half-way, we stop at a traditional wilderness café, where a hearty soup lunch, salad buffet and hot drink await, before skiing back towards the village.
Suitable for beginners and experienced skiers alike. The pace is always tailored to the group. Minimum age 13. Maximum 8 participants.
