Ylläs rises to 719 metres — the highest peak in the region — and from the top, on a clear night, the sky is one of the finest aurora-watching spots in all of Finnish Lapland. This unique evening experience gets you there in style: by snowcat, the powerful tracked machine used to groom the ski slopes, for a smooth and memorable ascent through the winter darkness.
At the summit, the professional team at Ylläskammi restaurant welcomes you for a carefully prepared dinner using locally sourced ingredients. Eat well, take in the view, and keep one eye on the sky — on a clear night this hilltop is exactly where you want to be when the green curtains start to move. The snowcat brings you back down at the end of the evening, where your transfer home is waiting.
Suitable from age 4. A truly special Lapland evening.
After the dinner, you will enjoy a ride back down the hill with snowcat where the taxi will be waiting for you to drive you back to your accommodation.
Note: Available every Wednesdays and Fridays from 18.12.26 until 31.03.27
The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a natural atmospheric phenomenon and, as such, cannot be guaranteed on any given night. Their appearance depends on a combination of factors beyond our control, including solar activity, cloud cover, and atmospheric conditions.
At North Wind Lapland, we take you to optimal viewing locations away from light pollution — but nature always has the final word.
No refund or compensation will be offered in the event that the Northern Lights are not visible during your safari. What we do guarantee is an unforgettable Arctic experience, expert guiding, and every effort made on your behalf to chase the lights.
